Roll 'em and Blow 'em

For this singing time, you will need 6-8 straws per singing time (6-8 per Junior and Senior because they can't share straws).  Write song titles on small strips of paper and roll them up tightly.  Stick each one in the end of a straw.

Choose a child to come up and blow through the straw - shooting the paper out.  Let them aim at a target (or aim high in the air so no one gets it in the eye!).  Once they have shot it and found the small piece of paper, sing that song!!!

  1. I thought the straw idea was great and used it a couple of months ago, but I really had a hard time blowing the paper out. I tried several different sizes and weights of paper and finally thought I had it but only some of the children could blow the paper out. What is your secret?

  2. Hey there! When I did it, I used those cheap plastic straws and made sure I rolled the paper REALLY tight. I used regular computer printing paper... hopefully that will help you!

  3. I took this last week and had the same sadness! We couldn't get the papers out! It was a little stressful, but I ended up having the kids use the straws to conduct in 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4 instead so I wasn't without anything. I was bummer...this looks so fun!

  4. Hey! Where did you put the roll of paper? At the front? Or at the end, where it is going to come out? Or the middle maybe?
When I did it, I put it just at the bottom tip (at the end) where it is going to come out. Not where they blow from. That's the only other thing I can think of. Mine worked perfectly! Sorry to hear your papers didn't fly out!
